private parties / special event facilities
Ever notice when you host a party, how your guests inevitably gather in the kitchen? Complete strangers seem to bond quickly over their common interest in food. Depending upon your needs, the evening can be as interactive as you want. Your guests may participate in the preparation of dinner by working side by side with our chefs, have them be guests and allow them to sit back and relax while they watch our chefs cook their meal in our open kitchen, or allow us to prepare your meal for you while you socialize. Either way, an evening at mise en place is like having a seat at one of Denver's 4-star restaurants' chef's table.
mise en place offers our facilities for your private parties and special events. Situated in a historic loft, mise en place is charming in its setting. With exposed brick, wood beam ceilings and a comfy lounge area, the school exudes an atmosphere that is warm and inviting - making you feel as if you are preparing dinner in your own home . It is these surroundings that create an environment for learning that is both relaxed and engaging. Its interior space offers three distinct areas for entertaining: a large open kitchen for cooking, an informal dining area, and a comfortable lounge, all of which put its guests at ease and invites interaction and socialization.
mise en place offers a variety of classes with topics ranging from making sushi to learning how to select wines. The school's goals are for each class to be an adventure experienced by its students, an opportunity to journey to new areas of the world and to learn skills in a fun and interesting way.
Unlike hotels or restaurants that limit your selections to pre-planned menus, mise en place is more flexible in its choices, letting you design a menu that's right for you. From a four-course feast featuring complex cuisines to a night of casual wine tasting and appetizers, the possibilities are endless. And unlike restaurants that desire two to three seatings in an evening, mise en place offers a venue for your organization that is yours exclusively to accommodate your schedule.

"Everyone who attended the Christmas Party at mise en place last Christmas still talks about it to this day. Our private cooking class was so unique. It was elegant, but comfortable enough that we felt right at home while we cooked in teams. We would recommend this experience to our friends and colleagues!"

Please call Paula at 303-868-2307 for more details but here are answers to more common questions:
- How many can attend? We can accommodate up to 55 attendees in a cooking class / demonstration class, up to 60 for a more formal dinner party, and up to 110 for a cocktail party. We require a minimum of 8 students to schedule a class.
- What is the price? Class pricing is based on the number of people in attendance. All pricing is exclusive of beverages and gratuity. Prices will range from $70 to $115 per person for a private event ($115 per person for 8-14 attendees; $100 per person for 15-19 attendees; $90 per person for 20-24 attendees; and $80 for 25-29 attendees and $70 for 30 or more.) With a minimum of 3 weeks' notice, you can opt to open your group function to the general public, thereby reducing your price per person. You will still need a minimum of 8 people to set up the class and guarantee a $1000 deposit, regardless of the number of attendees.
- What kind of class can we have? We offer some very creative, inventive classes! Please note that with a private party, you have flexibility to select the chef teaching, as well as the theme and menu offered during the class! We believe that each experience should be unique so we work with your to determine a cuisine/theme and select a chef and menu based on your request.
- Can we bring in our own alcohol? mise en place has a full liquor license, offering wine, beer, and alcohol, so we cannot allow you to bring in your own alcohol. We have a limited bar for alcohol but can accommodate other requests for a full bar at your request. Please let us know in advance for any special requests. In addition to our wine bar, you may personally select a few wines to be available for the party, or have us pair wines with your specific dinner. You may opt to offer alcohol on a cash-bar basis or have one bill for your entire party. Please call us to discuss the possibilities!
| "Having our company holiday party at mise en place was incredible! From cocktail hour to preparing our own meal under the direction of one of Denver's famous chefs to sitting down and having it served to us by Paula and all of her wonderful assistants was a fun, new and innovative way for our team to gather in celebration. The intimacy of having the whole place to ourselves made the experience very special."

Let us create the program that works best for you!
It's as easy as:
-
Choosing a date and time. Choose a date for your event. Since mise en place works with Executive Chefs whose busiest days in the restaurant are Friday and Saturday, you will be able to select from a wider roster of chefs Monday through Thursday. However, we can accommodate any day of the week or time, based on your needs. Most classes are two and a half hours long and are scheduled in the evening from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. Many organizations consider mise en place for lunchtime classes or afternoon activities as well.
-
Selecting a cuisine. Select from a variety of cuisines such as Italian, Thai, or pick a theme like Summertime Grilling or Autumn Foods, or host a wine tasting with hands-on appetizer preparations. Inform mise en place of any dietary restrictions i.e. lactose or gluten intolerance, allergies or food aversions due to religion and they will be happy to accommodate your request.
-
Picking your chef. Once steps one and two are complete, mise en place will work with you to locate the most appropriate chef for your event and design a sample menu for your approval.
We do the rest!
